Loon Lake RCMP risked their lives to save those of two others; including one man who had to be rescued twice.  Police responded to a potential assault call at a residence on the Makwa Sahgaiehcan First Nation around 6:20 p.m. Wednesday. Upon arrival, RCMP discovered the house was on fire. Two officers entered the home, located a woman and helped remove her to safety unharmed. She has since been identified as Savera Little Spruce. Police then re-entered the burning house and helped a man escape. They re-entered for what they thought was a last time, searching the main level and basement for anyone else still inside. Upon exiting the residence, police learned the man had re-entered the home. By this time, the house was completely inaccessible, according to an RCMP media release. But one officer reportedly managed to boost the other to a main floor window and pull the man to safety. The man was sent to the Meadow Lake Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The responding officers suffered minor smoke inhalation, but were otherwise uninjured. Both the cause of the fire and the original call for service are still under investigation.
